Brief description of the crash While bombing the airfield Waalhaven, the L1514 was attacked by several Messerschmitt BF-109 and BF-110. It was so much damaged that they had to make an emergency landing near Herkingen. The two airmen survived and found a way to escape to England with the help of the ship HMS Hereward.
