Brief description of the crash | Left 0850 Wratting Common. Badly shot up over the target area at 1200 by a Me109G whose fire slightly wounded both Air Gunners, but in turn was claimed destroyed in the exchange of fire. Streaming petrol from damaged fuel tanks, the Lancaster was force- landed in a ploughed field near the Dutch city of Sas van Ghent. |
